Scottcopters Drone academy is a separate and distinct entity from the The UAV Academy LTD framework and refers to Hong Kong legislation, which is ostensibly very similar to ICAO member states. We contract only certified pilots as instructors. Lessons can be in either English or Cantonese. Courses are arranged on a bespoke basis depending on needs and flying skills of the individual. Normally four-hour sessions, which include air law, theory of flight, meteorology and flying lessons, are all held at our New Territories flying site. We can have our instructor collect you by car from Sheung Shui MTR, if you do not have your own transport.

For commercial trainees, our instructors will train you to pass the 12-task flight exam for the CDP-C. This normally takes 2 full days of training.

You can rent one of our UAVs or you can bring your own. Most of our students rent one of ours. In the unlikely event that you damage our UAV we will cover the cost of UAV repair/replacement, which takes away the worry of damaging your own.

Scottcopters highly recommends that pilots have their own third party liability insurance covering the requirements of the relevant legislation.

Commercial UAV/Drone Operator Training Course fees can be found here.

As from our February 2018 course, the CDP-C™ course includes either discounted half-day or 2 days of group flight training and aircraft rental, to be taken within 3 months of the Part 2 theory course, at a date to be arranged.

''Mr Angus Scott was an ideal instructor, with un-fathomed knowledge of the subject. He was able to transfer all the requirements to pass my theoretical exams in a very clear way, to give all practical/legal/ethical background that every UAS pilot needs,  and also to answer every possible question that was raised from case studies, accidents, technology/engineering aspects, software etc.''
